Blade Tool Analysis

PlySim were asked to perform thermal and structural analysis on the tool for the tip of an 80m wind turbine blade.


Structural Analysis

A finite element model was used to perform a detailed structural analysis of the tool surface, composite bulkheads and steel frame to ensure that the support frame was able to support the tool throughout the rotational cycle of opening and closing.

A set of laminate drawings was provided including laminate schedule, local reinforcements and bonding details.
